5 Bucket-list Spots to Visit in Summer – Florida Edition

☀️ Florida in the Summer? Hear Me Out…

Okay, I know what you’re thinking… Florida in the summer? Isn’t it like, a million degrees and 200% humidity?

Yes. Yes it is. 😂
But hear me out: it’s also one of the most fun, affordable, and memory-making places to escape to. Whether you’re on spring break, planning a girls’ trip, or living your best snowbird life, Florida has something for everyone. And every mood, sometimes I love a beautiful blue warm ocean day from theme park chaos to calm beachy mornings.

And best of all? You don’t even need a passport.

Here are five spots we think deserve a place on your summer bucket list (and why we’d totally go back again).

🎢 ORLANDO: Theme Park Chaos and Childhood Joy

Orlando needs no introduction. And if you know me (Kelly), you know I am obsessed— but just because I’m biased, doesn’t mean this is an incredible vacation. Theme parks are also great with listening to your needs and accommodating people with diffabilities. If you’ve ever dreamed of hugging Mickey, casting spells at Hogwarts, or screaming your way through thrill rides, this is your place.

Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World

Of course, Disney World and Universal Studios are the main draws, but Orlando has evolved into a legit destination beyond the parks, with top-tier restaurants, dreamy resorts, and surprisingly cute local neighborhoods.

We recommend visiting in May or late August, when the crowds ease up and the Florida heat is slightly more manageable (emphasis on slightly). While there are many fantastic options in terms of food, I have to go with some Disney options. I’d recommend California Grill at The Contemporary (ask for Roberto!) for an amazing feel and firework show. And if you are looking for good all-around theme park food I recommend Animal Kingdom or EPCOT.

When it comes to accommodations, there is something for EVERYONE. Find a solid option that saves your energy for Space Mountain instead of parking lots. If you need help let us know.
Whether you’re here for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or just want to drink around the world at EPCOT, this is the place to let your inner kid out.

Why it’s on the list: No matter how old you are, Orlando is pure magic. And if you haven’t screamed on Hagrid’s Motorbike yet, what are you even doing?

🌴 The Florida Keys: Laid-Back Island Vibes

If you want a tropical escape without leaving the country, the Keys are calling. Stretching from Key Largo down to Key West, this chain of islands serves major island energy… think colorful cottages, crystal-clear water, and seafood soooo fresh. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Key Largo is perfect for snorkeling (John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is a mustwe recommend a snorkeling day! Key West brings the party, the pastel charm, and sunsets that look photoshopped.

Plan your trip between May and early July to avoid the worst of hurricane season and still beat the late-summer crowds. And definitely don’t leave without grabbing a lobster roll or conch fritters at The Fish House — it’s a Keys classic for a reason.

🏖 Rosemary Beach: Relaxed Luxury and Coastal Charm

Located along Florida’s scenic 30A, Rosemary Beach is one of those places that feels straight out of a Nancy Meyers movie. It’s peaceful, polished, and somehow effortlessly cool.

Rosemary Beach FL

Perfect for a girls’ trip, a couple’s getaway, or anyone who wants beach vibes without spring break energy, this little town offers boutique shops, wine bars, and some seriously stunning sunsets.

Early June and late August are the sweet spots for visiting. The weather’s still beautiful, and you’ll skip the heaviest crowds. Make time for tapas and chocolate fondue at La Crema (trust me on this one), then wind down with a sunset walk along the beach.

If you’re staying overnight, [this pastel cottage with bikes included] lets you live your coastal dream life from sunrise to sangria.

Cocoa Beach FL

🚀 Cocoa Beach: Surf, Space, and Chill Coastal Vibes

Cocoa Beach often flies under the radar, but it’s hands-down one of our favorite places for a low-key summer escape. Just 45 minutes from Orlando, it’s a great way to add beach time to your trip — or escape the theme park madness entirely.

Here, mornings are for surfing, afternoons are for rocket launches, and evenings are for fish tacos with an ocean view. Cocoa Beach is also home to the iconic Kennedy Space Center, which is so much cooler than you might think — especially if you time it with a real rocket launch (check NASA’s schedule!). We recommend booking [your tickets in advance here].

The best time to go is May through July when the weather is ideal and summer energy is high but not chaotic. Don’t leave without a stop at Fat Kahuna’s for fresh seafood and oceanfront vibes.

🌊 St. Augustine: History, Beaches, and Coastal Quirk

St. Augustine is where old-world charm meets beach-town energy — and somehow, it works. As the oldest city in the U.S., it’s packed with history (like actual 1600s forts), but it also has great beaches, cool bars, and more ghost tours than you could ever need.

Wander the cobblestone streets, hop on a trolley tour for the full history rundown ([we love this one]), and then head to the beach for a break from sightseeing. Food-wise, you have to stop at Pizza Time — don’t question it — and The Ice Plant is perfect for cocktails in a repurposed distillery space.

Visit in May or September to enjoy sunny weather without the height of hurricane season or the summer crowds. It’s a great spot for history lovers, foodies, or anyone who wants their beach trip with a side of storybook charm.

So… which one are you booking?

Whether you're chasing theme park thrills, craving calm beach days, or planning your dream girls' getaway, Florida really has it all — and we hope this list helps you find your perfect summer escape.

Let us know which one’s calling your name… or better yet, which one we should visit with you next.

See you in the sun. 🌴💛
